Why the framing changes the answer
Meal context does much of the work. "For dinner tonight" and "in general" invite different reasoning, one situational and one dispositional, so an unanchored question collects a blend of both.
What segmentation reveals
The value here is as a control. If a pair expected to be flat comes back strongly structured, the first hypothesis should be the sample rather than the subject.
